Tina Hill
Artist/Printmaker
Through my work I explore elemental transformations and the passage of time. Beyond the natural cycles of birth and death, construction and destruction I am interested in, “new life from old”, how artifacts can be discarded as worthless by one society only to be sort after and preserved by another. My work draws on archaeology, geology and alchemy.
Parts, fragmentation, transmutations and stratification are key elements in my work. Through the use of texture, colour and multiple layers or surfaces I also echo the processes of decay and dissolution, the imprints and stains of time.
I have just completed a M.A. in Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking at the University of the West of England, Bristol and was awarded the Agissi book arts prize. For more information see my website www.tinahillart.co.uk or email art@tinahill.me.uk.
