My work is inspired by the beauty and movement of the human form. Ancient Greek statues and torsos have influenced me and I’m fascinated by the colour and shapes in the spaces around a figure as well as the figure itself. My figures are coated with a thin layer of fine slip, terra sigillata then smoke fired in sawdust. My wall pieces are painted with a stoneware glaze mixed with oxides. I have recently also become interested in using ceramics to portray seascapes and patterns and textures in the sand.
